DAY 1

Start your day with a visit to the Mobile Carnival Museum, where you can explore the rich history of Mardi Gras, a tradition which started in Mobile. Afterward, take a short walk to the History Museum of Mobile to learn about the city’s past from its Native American origins to modern times. Then head across to Colonial Fort Conde to explore exhibits on the history of the fort, learn about the various colonial powers that occupied Mobile, and get a feel for the daily lives of the soldiers and settlers who lived there.

DAY 2

Head to the National Maritime Museum of the Gulf of Mexico to dive into Mobile’s maritime heritage. The interactive exhibits offer insights into the Gulf of Mexico’s ecological and economic significance. Next, visit Battleship Memorial Park and tour the USS Alabama, a World War II battleship. The park also features a submarine, aircraft, and military exhibits. Enjoy a picnic lunch by Mobile Bay, taking in views of the water and the surrounding natural beauty.

DAY 3

To complete your visit to Mobile, be sure to book a guided tour with the Dora Franklin-Finley African American Heritage Trail. This inspiring journey through Black history in Mobile covers key landmarks, including the historic Stone Street Baptist Church, founded by freed slaves in 1806, and the once-thriving Black business district along what is now Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue. The tour beautifully weaves together the past and present, highlighting Mobile’s vibrant culture of music, food, and celebrations, as well as its pivotal role in U.S. history.
