America’s Amazon Adventure
Embark on a wilderness adventure like no other, where serene waters and lush marshlands beckon you to explore the hidden gems of Alabama’s natural beauty. Whether you’re paddling through tranquil waterways or immersing yourself in the region’s rich ecology, this unforgettable journey promises both excitement and tranquility in equal measure.
DAYS 1-3
Set out from 5 Rivers Delta Resource Center on a two-night, three-day paddling adventure. Sleep on floating wooden camping platforms amid the marshes and waters that form part of the Alabama Canoe Trail for a true wilderness experience that includes bird watching, wildlife viewing, and fishing.
Call ahead to ask about availability for booking the camping platforms before your trip, then, on arrival, learn about the natural history of the Mobile-Tensaw Delta at 5 Rivers Delta Resource Center before departing on your journey.
You can set off right from the docks in your own kayak or canoe. Alternatively, you can also ask at the Center about booking a local boat guided tour of the lower Delta to learn about the area’s fascinating ecology, including the American Lotus when it is in bloom and spotting elusive nutria–a beaver-like animal–that makes its home in the Delta’s marshlands. Or, book a tour or rent equipment from our list of approved guides and outfitters.
