Bayfront Park
A site on the Alabama Coastal Birding Trail, the park is located in the Alabama Port community about a mile north of the Dauphin Island Bridge. Many species of local and migratory birds visit here in the spring and fall to take advantage of its fresh water and to shelter themselves among the trees and reeds. Herons, egrets, osprey, gulls, and terns stalk the shoreline while bluebirds, killdeer, red-wing blackbirds, woodpeckers, kingfishers, and other locals live among the reeds, trees, and artificial nesting boxes. The Park includes a boardwalk, playground, pavilions, and a ‘pocket’ beach providing protected access to the waters of Mobile Bay for swimming, paddling, windsurfing, and other water activities such as shore fishing or crabbing.
