Bottle Creek Indian Mounds
Declared a National Historic Landmark in 1994, the site is part of the Alabama Indigenous Mound Trail. Accessible only by boat, the site features 18 earthen mounds built centuries ago by Native Americans and was once one of the largest communities in the Southeast. The tallest mound rises approximately 16 meters (52 feet) above the swamp.
